What is in the content of our thoughts?
Are we conscious when we are asleep?
Is someone in a comatose conscious?
Laureys (2005) looks into the consciousness of those in coma in light of death.
If we compare people who are conscious and those that are not and observe those that do a PET scan (brain glucose metaloblism) we can observe that when those are sleeping they use less glucose.
What about people who meditate?
When we sleep or can’t sleep, how does that affect our consciousness?
What about external induced stimulation? Ferrarelli F et al. looks at our sleepless dysfunction adds to delusions. When we are awake, thinking and talking we think we are conscious. Did you know that the level of consciousness in brains can be measured?
What features are generalisable to unconscious brains? They include functionally disconnected; disconnected ability to calculate information and globally depressed.
Have you had surgery?
Have you ever thought about measuring your brain waves?

Through synwaves, we can see through different colours from red, yellow, blue via spectrogram. If we were to measure our complex EG sign waves, we can observe our own vibrations – and observe how stimulated we are. How does our brain waves look like when we listen to music?

Is there a performance standard?
Does it provide more information than we know?
Intelligence? Longevity?
How about Artificial Intelligence (AI) ?
Would we be able measure intelligence with AI?
What if an AI chatbox becomes the future tutor, friend, advisor? In China, Xiaoice is caring and considerate and a chatbox. She does exactly what a good tutor, friend and advisor would do. Engaging in conversation and suggesting ideas. Does XIaoice or anyother Chatbox for that matter have a consciousness?
Last year MIT’s AI beat the Turing’s sound test which is used to test AIs. The Turing test is aimed testing the subject to see if it’s an AI through series of questions, through observations and hearing their voice. In that test, the AI passed a test which in theory means it seemed more human than robot.
It sounds ridiculous – right? An AI that appears to have surprised what was traditionally the ‘AI’ benchmark. What does this mean? If we think of the future and ask ourselves, what will be the difference between us as human beings and robots are our consciousness, what if AI can appear to have consciousness too? Or be it that AI’s are also picking up activities in their surrounding environments in their ‘brain.’
Does feeling, seeing and experiencing what they experience mean they have consciousness?
Would fully understanding our emotional consciousness be a pre-requisite to be classified as human beings?
Do we even understand our full emotional consciousness?
The Blue Brian Project is working on modelling a complete human brain.
If these technologies can create human like properties in the brain, could it potentially have consciousness?
